The new procedures affect electronics and liquids in a passenger's carry-on luggage. Travelers can expect the new requirements:
- Electronic devices larger than a cell phone must be put into bins for X-ray screening. TSA agents say the process is similar to how laptops are currently screened. Nothing should be on top or below the devices in the bin.
- Restrictions on liquids, gels and aerosols will continue, but need to be placed into a screening bin inside a quart-sized bag. Any quantities of items such as lotions and shampoo need to be less than 3.4 ounces each.
TSA agents will be available ahead of the security line at the airport for any questions about the new rules.
Passengers being screen in a dedicated TSA pre-check lane will not be affected by the changes.
