The Sioux Falls Storm (14-2) cap off the 2017 regular season with a 45-24 over the Iowa Barnstormers (13-3) and advance to the United Conference Championship for the seventh consecutive season.
The first quarter was a back and forth battle with the Iowa Barnstormers scoring first after a two-yard pass from Travis Partridge to Lucas Hefty, giving the Barnstormers an early 0-7 lead. Storm quarterback Lorenzo Brown quickly tied it up after a four-yard keeper. The Barnstormers would end the first quarter with a 7-14 lead after a three-yard rushing touchdown by Rasheed Williams.
The second quarter started with a Storm touchdown after a four-yard run by Lorenzo Brown to tie the game at 14. The Barnstormers re-took the lead 14-21 with a 17-yard touchdown pass to Brady Roland from Travis Partridge. The Storm ended the half with a 23-yard field goal by Justin Syrovatka and would trail 17-21.
Sioux Falls took their first 24-21 lead of the game to start the third quarter after a 14-yard rushing touchdown by Robbie Rouse. But Iowa would tie it again after a 20-yard field goal by Chun Kenton. Storm quarterback Lorenzo Brown would find a wide open Mike Tatum to re-take the lead 31-24, ending the third quarter.
The fourth quarter was dominated by the Storm after scoring back-to-back touchdowns. First was a 19-yard scamper by Lorenzo Brown and then Rashard Smith would intercept Iowa quarterback Travis Partridge and return it to the house, sealing the game at 45-24.
Quarterback Lorenzo Brown completed 12 of 18 passes for 137 yards and one touchdown along with three rushing touchdowns. Running back Robbie Rouse carried the ball three times for 47 yards. Wide-out Mike Tatum caught four passes for 43 yards and one touchdown. Tyler Knight led the defense in tackles with 14 while Rashard Smith had an interception and one touchdown.
