Rainfall Spotty So Far In June

The rain has been good to some in KELOLAND, but other areas are still drying out.

Parts of KELOLAND had heavy rain on Monday; in fact, Watertown received over an inch in less than an hour, which led to localized flooding.

If you did get a heavy downpour and skipped on the flooding, consider yourself lucky as temperatures will heat up once again as we go into the later part of the week.  If you didn't, then hopefully some comes soon.

When we look at the amount of rain so far this month, we notice the spotty nature of the rain as our average rain through the first 11 days is typically around an inch to an inch and two-thirds.

There are areas that are over their average amounts, including five cities showing above average rain so far this month.  The heaviest is 193 percent of average for Yankton.

With temperatures returning to the 80s and 90s later this week, a lot of that moisture will quickly evaporate.  Be thankful for what you got, as long as you aren't dealing with any flooding issues.
