Storm Center Update - PM Tuesday June 26

It is a dry day across KELOLAND, and that’s good news in the flooded south and not so good in the drought area in NE South Dakota. Temperatures are in the upper 70s to low 80s, which is near-normal. It is somewhat humid, with dew points in the 60s to low 70s. Skies are sunny in the west and partly cloudy in eastern KELOLAND as the low pressure system that brought us our recent rains spins away to the east.

 Weather Graphic

Tonight skies will be mostly clear with light wind East River, though fog may form in areas where the ground is wet. We could see some nighttime thunderstorms in western and central South Dakota as a low pressure system and weak front moves through. There is a slight risk of severe storms in NW South Dakota. Overnight lows will be in the low 60s.

Tomorrow will be a partly cloudy day with light winds. Temperatures will climb back into the low to mid 80s. Western and central South Dakota could have some morning showers left over from overnight rainfall.

Thursday and Friday are going to be partly to mostly sunny, hot, and humid. Temperatures will be in the upper 80s to low 90s. Chances for rain and thunderstorms look fairly low, mainly confined to western and central South Dakota.

Friday night and Saturday looks wet, with clouds, showers, and thunderstorms as a cold front comes into KELOLAND. Behind that front, Sunday will be sunny and cooler, with highs around 80 degrees – cooler in western South Dakota where we could see some additional rain for the first day of July.

Monday will be partly to mostly sunny, as we warm a few degrees into the low 80s. Tuesday, July 3rd, looks potentially stormy with a warm front come up from the southwest.

Looking beyond the 7 day… July 4th looks hot and rain free, with highs in the upper 80s to mid 90s. There will be a fairly strong system going through North Dakota and northern Minnesota, if you have travel plans in that direction.
